The Importance of an Easily Accessible About Me Page

about me page
There are a lot of blogs out there. A lot. Some people read a blog post or two before they decide whether or not to follow a blog. However, the majority of readers will look for an “About” page within 60 seconds of visiting a blog. It’s the quickest way to learn about someone, and your readers know that. So give them what they want! And don’t make them search all around for it! Hopefully you spent some time crafting a well-written “About” page, so why not get people to it? It’s the few paragraphs you wrote to get people to know more about who you are. Sure, they can read post after post, but that’s not a reasonable thing to ask from someone who just stumbled onto your blog. The most realistic thing you can expect is for them to seek out something about YOU. They want to know who wrote what they are reading. Be honest, you’re way more likely to follow a blog for the person as opposed to the posts. So give yourself a chance at picking up more followers and make that “About” page easy to find!

Here are some tips on writing your about page:
– Thank them for visiting your blog and your “About” page.
– For a general guide, write 3-5 things about yourself and 3-5 things that you like to do.
– Include a picture or two. Make it a more real life, less edited photo.
– Try (not too hard) to grasp your reader’s attention and make them want to read your blog posts.
– Bonus: toward the end of your “About” page, try and work a link to a blog post that relates to something you’re talking about.

Do you seek out a blog’s “About Me” page right away?
