Running Google Adsense? You Need to Know This.

Here’s a quick heads up if you are running Google Adsense on your blog.

You cannot have your Adsense ad in a “Sponsors” section of your blog.

Why?
Google does not allow this because the term “sponsor” infers that you are working directly with the company that is being displayed in the ad. That is not the case.

See some examples of proper placement:

Notice how there are no headings above the Adsense ads?

Note: this does not just mean “sponsors”, you are prohibited from placing Adsense under any type of misleading heading. For example: “Resources”, “My Favorite Links”, “Support My Blog”, etc.

With Adsense ads, you are supposed to just put them there. Do NOT call action to them. They are supposed to attract natural interest, not encouraged interest.

If you’re running Adsense ads, you have potential to earn a nice chunk of change from it. You certainly don’t want to mess that up because of a small oversight of the terms and conditions!
