Blogging Tools ~ DSLR Cameras

One of my top suggestions and “things you’ll need” to have a successful blog is a good camera. Of course, not just having a good camera will do it, but if you know the basics of any of the cameras below, you can get some really nice photos on your blog. Pinterest users notice these things, and good photos get re-pinned and clicked on. So without further ado, here’s a few good DSLR cameras ranking from basic to premium. Prices start at around $400 and range to $1,500 or so. FYI, with regard to these cameras, you generally do get what you pay for.

I’m glad you posted this, I’ve been really considering getting a camera for my blog. Which of these have the best video capabilities in your opinion? I was also wondering if you could suggest some video editing software or the best way to edit home made video for free online. I have a major project I want to undertake and can’t do it without a good video camera and the means to properly edit it. Any suggestions?

Hi Kayla, thanks for stopping by!
As far as editing software goes… for free, I like Windows Movie Maker. If you’re on a Mac, iMovie is a good one. If you want something more, I recommend Camtasia Studio 8, although that will set you back $250-$300.
As for the camera, a T3 or T3i will do okay, but the Canon EOS 60D 18 MP CMOS Digital SLR Camera with 3.0-Inch LCD (Body Only) is known for taking really good video.
Also don’t forget that if you are making enough on your blog to file taxes for it, the camera can be written off if it is used for your blog.

      Hope that helps!
