Hello and welcome to my blog!

I run this blog with the purpose of helping other bloggers (rookies and veterans) succeed and get more from their blogs.

Before I get into the walkthrough of my blog, let me say that I recommend my course: More from Your Blog in 10 Days to bloggers at any level.

I have done countless consultations (don’t do them any more, sorry) with bloggers of all levels and most of what they pay me to do is tell them stuff that is in my course. It’s a $24.99 investment that could propel your blog to the next level without having to pay for a consultation or a much more expensive course that would only cover half of what this one does.

The course is loaded with practical, applicable advice that doesn’t simply tell you that you have to spend money on this tool and that tool to be successful. You can put what you learn in the course to work immediately – and it will only have positive results on your blog.

Want to know more about the course? Click here. Otherwise, continue below.

I started this site to try and bridge the gap between folks who are looking to build their blogs and the sites out there to help those bloggers. It seems that most of the sites designed to help bloggers only offer advice that is applicable to people who want to run blogging advice blogs of their own. Look up blogging tips on Google and you’ll find countless sites that don’t exactly tell you how to blog, rather how to make money by telling other people what to do. It’s this circle of advice (actually, more like a pyramid), where affiliate links run rampant and nothing actually gets accomplished outside of that niche. What about the lifestyle bloggers? The fashion bloggers? Bloggers who write about about being a mother or father? Fitness bloggers? The truth is, sites that are written with those types of blogs in mind are few and far between.

Well, that’s where this site comes in. I focus on the blogger, because that is what I am and I’ll never lose sight of that. I currently run a personal blog of my own and my wife has a very successful lifestyle blog.

I know what it’s like to write for no one for 6 months when you’re just starting out. I know the feeling when you finally hit 100 followers on Twitter. Then 1,000. I know the disappointment when you use your affiliate link to promote some awesome Amazon product seamlessly in a nicely written 2,000 word post only to make no sales.

Most importantly, I want to share what has worked for us and what I continue to believe are best-practices when it comes to blogging, SEO, social media, etiquette, sponsors and every other facet of blogging.

So if you’re making $1 a day and want to try and double that, or turn it into $10/day by this time next year, then you are in the right place. I only share practical tips and advice that I myself have tried, or people in my very tight network have tried. I will never recommend something just because it is “hot” or because it might earn me money.

For example, I recommend BlueHost and have a couple of niche sites hosted with them. I recommend Aweber because that is who I use for my email newsletter. I don’t recommend Lead Pages (even though bloggers in my niche love their high affiliate payouts) because I don’t see the value in it for my readers.

So, who should read this blog?

  • New bloggers for sure – this site is written in easy-to-understand language with lots of basic (but essential) information.
  • Bloggers who already have a blog, but want to start making money. This blog is perfect for bloggers at this level. Just like the name says, following my blog will help you get more from your blog.
  • Businesses who have websites and no blog. Follow the practical advice here for how to blog, how to get readers and how to keep them happy. Incorporating a blog into your business model is a great way to inject personality into your online presence.
  • Savvy veterans. While you may know a lot of what is written here, it’s always good to re-read best practices when it comes to blogging, SEO, social media and this entire industry. A little refresher never hurts!

Ok, now that that’s out of the way, here’s some help navigating this site.

Blogging can be a very lucrative venture, but if you want to turn it into a full-time income, it sure isn’t going to be a cakewalk. Chances are, most of you reading this got into blogging for the sole purpose of having a place to share your crafts, thoughts, family memories, etc. The truth is, that is the best way to start a blog. That means you will be passionate about your content and will want to continue. If you’re writing about something that you are not interested in, or are just writing to try and make money, you are going to burn out and give up in a short time.

First up, if you have not even started a blog yet, go here for help on getting your blog up and running within 30 minutes.

If you’re new to the blogging game, you may want to start with my posts on how to increase blog traffic. You see, unless you’re blogging just for fun, you can’t really do a whole lot until you have people reading your blog.

You also might want to take a look at some of the posts I have done regarding blog set-up and design.

I also recommend joining my private Facebook group, where I share my latest content and encourage open discussions between bloggers.

Already have a blog with some readers?

If you already have a blog up and running and have a decent (think 5,000 Pageviews/month), it might be time to delve into the money-making section of this blog.

I will say this – don’t EVER stop trying to grow your blog’s audience. The day you stop trying to grow is the day you start the slow tumble, and nobody wants to do that.

Additionally, now that you are comfortable running your blog, you may want to look into some of the more technical tips that I have posted to see if you can tweak your blog to improve user experience, SEO or readership.

Veteran? This blog is for you, too.

If you’re a vet to the blogging world, chances are you know the basics of how to set up a blog and how to build an audience. What you might find useful are the SEO posts that I have done in addition to the blogger features that I have done.

In the features, I interview bloggers who all make a decent income (some folks I have featured make 6-figure incomes) blogging. I think for people who have been doing it a while and who are making decent money from their blog, it’s nice to hear from other successful people and to see what they are doing with certain aspects of their blog.

So wherever you’re at in the blogging world, browse around this blog (via the top boxes or the category dropdown or search box in the sidebar) and find something that will be helpful to you. I’m always available for questions (comment on any post with a question) as well. You can also directly email me anytime at .
