Amazon has an affiliate program that they call Amazon Associates. You can basically form an affiliate link for any item on Amazon. Because of that fact, it is very easy to earn money from Amazon. See this post on getting started with the Amazon Associates program if you haven’t already joined.
Here are 6 ways to earn money from Amazon on your blog:
1) Be Selective
If you promote every item under the sun, your words don’t mean as much to your readers and they will not be as inclined to purchase things that you recommend. Also try to only promote items that are relevant to what you are writing about. If you write a post about your awesome new camera, that is a perfect place to drop an Amazon affiliate link for that camera! However, a big screen TV or new dress might not fit as well there.
2) Major Name Brands
People are already very comfortable buying items on Amazon. If you stick to the major name brands that people are also comfortable with buying, you’ll be encouraging your readers to buy even more.
3) Be Aware
Know what is selling. Check your reports often. It’s a good idea to know which items that you are linking to are selling as well as which additional items people are buying. You will get credit for anything someone buys from Amazon as long as they get there from your link. See the report below:
The items on your orders report that have a “0” under the “Product Link Clicks” column are items that people seek out by themselves after getting to Amazon from one of your links.
4) Text Text Text
Text links work waaaaay better than static ads in 99% of blogs. Text links are natural, they are found within the post’s content and they are very easy to use. Just slapping a banner ad in your sidebar probably isn’t going to do nearly as well as actively putting text links in posts.
5) Highlight Low Prices
Amazon’s pricing is ridiculously good. It makes promoting items there so easy. Sometimes, they will have spectacular deals on items that your readers might be interested in. Keep your eye out for low-priced hot items and try to work them into your posts. Hint: Amazon has a Gold Box Deal every day that features one item at a very good sale price.
6) Listen to Your Readers
If someone leaves a comment asking you about a certain thing that was in your post, try to find it on Amazon and leave an affiliate link to it in your response. “I love that watch, where did you get it?” can be answered with “I don’t remember but I found it on Amazon here.” Just like that, you’ve answered your reader’s question, given them a helpful link to see more info about it, or even buy it, and you’ve given yourself another opportunity to earn some money.
Wrap Up
Amazon is one of the best affiliate programs to begin with. The application process is pretty easy and they accept most bloggers. Promoting items on Amazon is a great way to get your feet wet in the affiliate sales game. It’s the very first program I joined when I started blogging years ago and ranks as one of my top income generators to this day.

Hey Zack,
If we manually link up affiliate links in our blog post will Google disable our Adsense account? I read your previous post on Adsense getting disabled due to a plugin. Give some insight on “can we place our Adsense ads in a blog which server amazon affiliate links?”
You can absolutely post Amazon links without issue. The reason I ran into trouble is that I had a plugin that was pulling and auto-posting from an RSS feed. Google didn’t like something about the auto-posting. It had nothing to do with regular Amazon links. Those are just fine in Google’s mind. I have been running several websites with AdSense and Amazon links for years without issue. Hope that helps!
Thanks Zack, for a quick response I was worried on what do with one of my blog which has many Amazon links now that there is no problem I can stay in peace. once again thanks for quick reply…
No problem!
Where can I find affiliate text links for amazon?!?!
Genius! I love how this is such a no brainer, yet… I haven’t implemented it yet!
You can find text links for Amazon by clicking “get links” on the Amazon site stripe (learn all about that here) and then clicking the “text only” tab. See the picture below:

And yes! You need to implement it! You can’t make money if you don’t give yourself a chance! 🙂
Thank you! Great tips, I’m new to blogging and the amazon affiliate program and I’m so excited:)
Thank you!
