Are you a no-reply blogger? Would you know if you are?
First, really quickly, let’s talk about why you probably want to be a reply blogger. If you leave comments on other blogs and would like to know if the blog author has responded to your comment without having to go back to their blog, you should become a reply blogger.
There’s an easy way to test to see if you are a no-reply blogger. While logged into your Blogger account, go to any old post on your blog and leave a comment (you’ll delete it after the test). Now head to the email that you get comment notifications sent to. Find your comment notification and look for the sender address. In Gmail, it will look like this:
You will see the return address as “noreply@blogger.com” of you are in fact a no-reply blogger.
Update: this fix will only work if you have disconnected your Blogger profile form your Google+ profile. You can reconnect after you perform the fix below. Here’s how to disconnect:
Head to your Blogger dashboard and in the upper right corner just under your name, you will see a gear icon. Click that and there will be an option to disconnect your Blogger account from your Google + account. Do that, then the link in this post should work find.
To reconnect, go back to the gear icon and click “connect to Google+” and you’ll be good to go!
Here’s how to fix it:
Go to your edit profile page (click here to get there quickly) and click the checkbox that says “show my email address:
To change the email address that the comment replies go to, use the box in that same “Edit Profile” screen that you’re in.
If you don’t have a blog, you can simply go to your profile and see if the “show my email address” box is checked. If it’s not, make sure your correct email address is entered and check it.
That’s it!
I will also mention that you might want to double check your settings, because if you synced your Blogger profile to Google+, it may have changed your settings back to no reply status.

So if I do the test comment and I get an email from myself then does that mean that I am a reply blogger?
Zack Reyes says
If the “from” address on the email is your email address, they you are all good.

Thank you!

I hate to appear so dense, but when I click on the links you have given, my google+ page of posts comes up https://plus.google.com/108017597491844178346/posts and I haven’t been able to locate the page you are showing. Also, my return email shows “no-reply.”
Zack Reyes says
Ok, it looks like your Blogger account is connected to your Google + profile. You have to disconnect them in order to make this change. You can reconnect them once the change has been made.

This does not work, I am still a no-reply blogger. here is the copy & paste noreply@blogger.com (E@ Mystical Makeup and Beauty (makeuptemple)

I have updated the post to include this information.

It does not work, I have tried all the tips and tricks on no reply blogger. I reverted my blogI disconnected gplus, tried it like that, I changed settings, my name my email etc. I connected to gplus again no change. maybe because my account is quite old.
Zack Reyes says
Alright I have to say that I am stumped. If you’ve done all of that, I don’t know why it’s not working. :/
E says
It seriously does not work, I am not someone who does not understand from simple settings.. The other option is disqus is causing problems
Zack Reyes says
I don’t think it would be Disqus, especially if it is happening when you comment on any other blog. Google is famous for making things difficult. Perhaps they have already changed something about this process.
Barbara @ www.allmylivesnow.com says
Thank you so much for explaining this in words that could be easily understood. It still took me about 15 minutes to figure it out, but,, eureka, it worked. Again, thank you!
Zack Reyes says
Woohoo! Glad you got it figured out and glad there’s one less no-reply blogger out there! 🙂
Leanne says
Thanks so much for this!!!
Shaz De Vos says
Help me please – I try to reply to comments on my blog and i cant. It says I am using Google profile on Blogger.
MY blog is apinchofshaz.blogspot.com
Many thanks
Zack Reyes says
Are you trying to reply in the comments section or by email? Is there an error message that comes up at all? If so, what exactly does it say?
mdm samm says
thank you for putting this up, you rock….I added to my blog so people can find YOU
Zack Reyes says
Hey thank you! 🙂
Leah D says
Thank you for this. I was on Google+ and then was a no-reply, so then I went back to regular, but didn’t know if I changed it then I could go back to Google+. So thank you so much!!
Zack Reyes says
No problem! Glad it helped!
Irdina says
I have press my name button and dont found any butto that say disconnest you blogger..How the other option to find it??
Yuri says
I am the same with commenter E above, mine does not work too. I have been searching for the reason why it won’t work on me. I have also did everything that you suggested and I am still a no-reply blogger. I have two active blogs though, but the other one (which is not my main blog) is already NOT a “no-reply” blogger. So my problem is how to change my other blog (www.twothousandthings) into NOT a reply blogger too?
Zack Reyes says
Something must have changed with this… not sure why it would not be working. :/
April says
Well, oh mighty guru can you help me!?!? 🙂 I would like to know how to be able to REPLY to someone in the comments — like to create a comment THREAD rather than have to reply to their e-mail directly. Some people ARE no reply bloggers. They leave a comment and you can never respond. I would like to be able to exchange dialogue in a thread format in the comments. Does that make sense?
Also, concerning this feature (mentioned in your post) I had to laugh because I went through everything and for the LIFE of me couldn’t figure out how to leave a comment on my own stupid blog — DUH…I kept going into EDIT mode.
SHOOT ME NOW! HAHAHAHAH
Zack Reyes says
Ok to reply to comments, you may have to change a setting in your Blogger account. Under settings —> other, make sure that your “Feed” is set to FULL. If that is already set, the comments that people leave should have a “reply” option once that is done. If not, consider me stumped as well!
And yes, gotta get out of edit mode! 🙂
Ajay says
Nice one and i changed my setting. Hope its done. Can you or anyone commenting here please elaborate how to get comment notifications directly on mail and reply to those comments. I have changed my email id (Author change) since then i am not getting any comment notification on my mail instead blogger owner who use to own blog is getting mail on his id.
Yabut says
Doesn’t making your e-mail address available just invite spam?
Zack Reyes says
It can in some cases, but I have never head of it happening in this case. It’s more of an issue if you have it posted on pages/posts of your site, because crawlers can pick it up easily.
Yabut says
Okay thanks. I’ll change it then, and see what happens. I know I used to get a lot of spam from my first blog and just didn’t want it to happen again. I’ll give it a trial run.
Jennifer | The Deliberate Mom says
I have this page book marked because I don’t understand this but I seem to have to reset my “no reply status” every month! So frustrating.
Thanks for making the fix so easy though.
Zack Reyes says
Strange that it resets every month… glad my tutorial helps though!
Tessa says
This did not work for me. When I disconnected from google + then went to the gear and edit user settings it doesn’t give me ANY of the options you showed! I am not sure why I followed your instructions exactly!
Zack Reyes says
Hi Tessa! Ok, so the gear is only to disconnect your G+. The other options are found in your edit profile page. There’s a link in the post to get there quickly if you’re logged in to your Google account. I hope that was it!
Wendy says
I had to same problem and just backtracked. I’ts fixed! I reverted my profile to blogger and clicked the link you provided (couldn’t find it from my blogger dashboard!). Followed your instructions and SAVED at the bottom of the screen. Then reverted back to google +. Tested a comment on a blog post and I am a REPLY blogger! I did notice that most comment boxes have a “notify me of follow up comments” check box. I have checked those before and I do get notification of those follow ups in email, but it’s ALL comments to the blog not just a reply to mine. Now I won’t get 50 email relies to someone’s blog! Yay!
Zack Reyes says
Awesome! Glad to hear it worked for you!
Amy Western says
Thank you for this! For some reason I’d never been a no-reply and suddenly I was. I had no idea of how to change it but all sorted now 🙂
Zack Reyes says
Awesome! Glad to hear you fixed it!
Rachel Tomkins says
I’ve been directed to this site as I am apparently a no-reply blogger. Although I cannot find the exact pages you have specified above (presumably blogger has been updated) I am willing to give it a go on one condition – I do not want to lose any information when I l disconnect from Google+ Therefore, please could you confirm that disconnecting and reconnecting does not change anything ie all previous comments etc will still be visible. Many thanks!
Zack Reyes says
Hi! As you said, things have been updated/changed since I wrote the post. Back then, you wouldn’t lose anything so I assume it is that way currently. I’m not 100% positive though since I don’t use Blogger at all anymore.
Kathie says
I have all the comments left on my blog sent as emails to my yahoo account. About two weeks ago all of the emails started showing up as coming from the same sender even though each one is from a different sender. I cannot figure out how to fix this – any thoughts. IN other words, every comment that comes to my yahoo account from a noreply-comment@blogger.com shows it is from the same person when in fact it is not.
Thanks for any help you can give.
