Google Will Start Using Your Profile Image for Advertising (Opt Out)

How to prevent google from using your name and face in ads
According to Mashable, Google has updated their terms of service and will now be free to use your profile picture on reviews or advertising as they please.

It looks like they will be doing this through Google Plus and it will be similar to Facebook’s sponsored stories.
Here are 3 examples that Google gave:
google sponsored

Here’s where I see this being an issue with bloggers:
They have the technology to recognize things you are posting and promote similar products as advertisements. So let’s say you just landed a sweet sponsored post with Target and you have potential to build an ongoing relationship. So you publish your first post and send the info to the PR person. Great! Until that PR person checks out Google Plus and sees a sponsored story/advertisement for Walmart with YOUR face plastered on it. Not good.

Yes, I realize the chances of this happening are slim, but they definitely do exist. I like to be able to control what I am endorsing, especially when my name and image are being used.

Ya I agree. It’s kinda like, “why would I” when they make opting out so easy.

I have not thought of one! Maybe it will have a link to your profile when they mention your name? So that would possibly generate some extra views of your profile or Google + page…
